El presidente de los Estados Unidos, Donald Trump, disparó este sábado contra el diario The New York Times al que culpó de frustrar una misión para matar al líder del Estado Islámico, Abu Bakr al Bagdadi.
«El fracasado New York Times frustró un intento de los Estados Unidos para matar al terrorista más buscado, Al Bagdadi. (Pusieron) sus enfermizos intereses por encima de la seguridad nacional», escribió el mandatario a través de Twitter.
Trump, quien suele publicar mensajes explosivos a través de su perfil de Twitter, no dio detalles de cómo el diario neoyorquino frustró los planes de Washington. En vez se refirió a otros temas, como el escándalo el intercambio de mails de su hijo con funcionarios rusos y la utilización de los superpoderes del Ejecutivo.
Sin embargo, el mensaje de Trump sobre Al Bagdadi fue publicado después de que el canal Fox News emitiera los comentarios del general Tony Thomas, jefe del Comando de Operaciones Especiales del Pentágono, sobre lo «particularmente cerca» que estuvo Estados Unidos de matar al líder terrorista en 2015.
«Teníamos una pista muy buena. Por desgracia, se filtró a un importante periódico nacional alrededor de una semana después y esa pista se esfumó», expresó Thomas. El comentario, tal parece, hizo bufar al presidente.
