El Gobierno municipal de la Ciudad de Miami acordó establecer un toque de queda, como medida preventiva contra el coronavirus, a partir del viernes 27 de marzo, entre 10 pm y 5 am, dentro de los límites de su jurisdicción.
La medida fue adoptada la noche del miércoles durante una reunión telemática, que evitó la afluencia de comisionados y público en la alcaldía, y tiene previste que dure al menos 15 días.
«Es un toque de queda. Debes estar en tu casa”, señaló el jefe de la Policía de Miami, Jorge Colina.
«Si no está en su casa, le preguntaremos por qué no está en su casa», subrayó.
Acorde al fallo emitido por el cuerpo legislativo municipal, solo se permitirá a residentes de la ciudad a salir de sus hogares para trabajar, ir al supermercado, farmacia o comprar alimentos, así como hacer ejercicio o sacar al perro a pasear hasta 250 pies de la vivienda.
Si la persona no logra justificar su presencia en la vía pública, acorde a las reglas antes anunciadas, podría ser detenida y multada con 500 dólares, acorde a la ley estatal de Florida.
Esta orden aplica a las barriadas de Downtown, Brickell, Coconut Grove y Coral Way, así como Flagami, Allapattah, Overtown, Shenandoah, Silver Bluff y la Pequeña Habana, entre otras.
Por otra parte, el acalde de Miami-Dade, Carlos Giménez, recordó que el cuerpo policial condal “está atento al cumplimiento de la orden de emergencia”, que dicta el cierre de locales comerciales que no son esenciales, parques, etc., y que “practicará una vigilancia mayor” al respecto.
