Un fuerte temblor de 6.7º en la escala de Richter sacudió a la provincia de Jujuy. El epicentro se ubicó a 160 km al oeste de San Salvador de Jujuy y 176 km al noroeste de Salta, según datos del Instituto Nacional del Prevención Sísmica (INPRES). Si bien se ubicó a 229 km de profundidad, cerca de la localidad de Catúa, se sintió en amplias regiones de ambas provincias. Se trata del movimiento tectónicos más fuerte de los últimos meses, en los que se sucedieron reacomodamientos de placas especialmente en la zona de San Juan.
